While costs are rising everywhere, the Finger Lakes region remains more affordable than many parts of New York. Data from doxoINSIGHTS shows Geneva’s average monthly household bills are $1,884—11% below the national average. Canandaigua, though pricier, still fares better than downstate areas.
Newark and Penn Yan also rank low in cost, with monthly expenses of $1,881 and $1,733, respectively. Seneca Falls is even cheaper, at $1,645 per month. Residents in these towns typically spend around a third of their income on bills.
This affordability, paired with quality amenities, attracts millennials and makes the Finger Lakes an appealing, budget-friendly place to live.
